    Workforce Development Conference 2009 - October 2009

Josette Gipson of Monmouth was the winner of the Workforce Investment Board of Western Illinois' Individual Achievement Award for 2009.  Overcoming a myriad of challenges and adversity, Josette's steadfast determination and drive for success, helped her to complete her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) certification.  Commenting on WIA's assistance in helping her to achieve her goal, Josette said, "Without WIA assistance, I would not have been able to finish school.  It was a big weight being lifted off my shoulders.  I would not have been able to accept the offer of a position in the LPN class without WIA because I had no way to pay for it.  I don't know when I would have been able to go to school."  Josette received official recognition at the 2009 Workforce Development Conference banquet held on October 22, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield, IL.
